A memorable Memorial Day!

The weather gods performed the right dances for this weekend as I was blessed with wonderful weather for a three-day weekend of camping. Camp Ramblewood in Northeast Maryland was the location and provided a nice, rustic setting for a fun filled time. I quickly went back to my Boy Scout roots and took in being outdoors again and welcomed the crisp morning air that served as my daily wake-up call.

My days were filled with meeting and conversing with a lot of wonderful people from PA/NJ/VA/MD and the DC area. The sun and a poolside lounge chair were the only real elements I needed to relax, read, play cards and do a little napping. Saturday's afternoon rain made for a nice change in the day and prompted many to take a nice walk in the summer rain.

The photos below are of one of the unofficial attendees of the weekend. I had never seen a peacock in the wild and welcomed the opportunity to be able to photograph one so closely. It surely made up for all of its incessant cackling that always seem to happen right after I dozed off to sleep. That aside, is was wonderful to see those colors in person.

Stand or sit?

I actually found the picture below on the Barenaked Ladies website and thought it was hysterical. So let me get this straight, hat bill backward when peeing standing up, forward when peeing sitting down. NOW I got it!

So I am doing it right!

13,000 feet on May 13th...

As many of you know, I celebrated my 40th birthday in grand style with a skydive from 13,000 feet on Friday the 13th no less. Yeah, crazy but those of you who know me know me to be crazy at times. My good friend Cheryl came along for the ride (the fall?!) and made for the perfect jump companion. It was a great way to mark the day.

Can someone please fix my goggles?

An early start to my 40th birthday...

My 40th birthday celebration started early in late April when I ventured out to Detroit to experience opening night of Bruce Springsteen's "Devils + Dust" tour at the Fox Theatre. This was my first visit to Motown and it proved to be a fun filled time as I spent it with my very good friend MaryBeth. We managed to fill the weekend with as much as we could while about 6 inches of snow fell to the ground over the time we were there. (Hey Bruce, how about starting the next tour in say... San Diego or Miami, okay!) During the weekend we were able to spend time gawking at marvelous homes in the Gross Pointe area of the city as well as touring the 100+ year old Pewabic Pottery. I really loved seeing craftspeople at work with one of my favorite mediums. But I think the guy below has the best job of all at that place.

Pewabic's resident cat. I want to come back as him.

Welcome ...

Well here I am, 13 days past my 40th birthday and 13 days into my 41st year. What better reason than to start up my own blog. Actually I have a big endeavor ahead of me as I start taking classes next week towards my Masters in Publication Design at the University of Baltimore. A large portion of the curriculum is writing for publications and corporate communications and while I have an extensive amount of graphic design experience, my writing background is not so broad. So I hope to be challenged by my coursework and use Mosaic My Day! as an avenue to practice my writing while having fun at the same time.

I also look forward to using my own space in cyberland to keep my friends and family abreast about what I am up to. It seems as though I come across some crazy and funny things all over the web and I love knowing I have a place where I can easily share those things with others.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to your feedback and comments.

Til next time... Live, love, laugh.
Carmen
